Things on the XIIIth: August & September 2019

Welcome to my monthly progress post that happens on the 13th (unless I miss a month… twice in a row… oops), which marks the start of a new fiscal month here on Livid Lightning. Get it? XIII is my favourite number… because I like Final Fantasy XIII a lot? Jeez… tough crowd.

Hello, my treasured internet readers and valued view-generating spam-bots!

I’ve been a mess again, as usual, and think I’ve recovered from my latest emotional meltdown. That life thing is crazy, man. I’ll babble about some things that have been bugging me in my “Life & Other Things” section, if you are at all interested in reading me whine about stuff.

Simpsons Internet Coping Meme
I’m not sure if memes and social media are the greatest of coping mechanisms, but they are making me slightly feel less sad and alone right now.

I consider 13 my lucky number. So it being Friday the 13th with a full moon makes it an extra special day for me. Here’s to hoping the universe sends those good vibes to anyone who needs them!

N7: Platinum Mass Effect 2 (Week 7)

Welcome to Part 5 of my Mass Effect 2 Platinum Trophy quest! You can check out Part 4 here.

I… really love the Infiltrator class! I’m so glad this Platinum Trophy Insanity quest pushed me to try it out. There’s nothing sweeter than cloaking and landing the perfect headshot on an unfortunate enemy. I’ve gathered tons of sniper upgrades and damage boosts at this point. I can pretty much one-shot any lesser enemy, even if they have full shields up. If I get caught dying outside of cover, I can cloak to get the hell out of there. I’ve even used the cloaking ability to get an objective without having to kill all the enemies. Awesome. Insanity difficulty is more fun instead of frustrating now. Yay!

Is this called… tactical? It’s actually fun! The Sniper Rifle needs moar ammo, though.

And yes, this is taking a lot longer than my Mass Effect 1 Platinum quest, but that’s okay. Other things in my life take priority over video games these days. Here’s how Week 7 went down, which covers August 25th to August 31st 2019.

N7: Platinum Mass Effect 2 (Week 6-ish)

Welcome to Part 4 of my Mass Effect 2 Platinum Trophy quest! You can check out Part 3 here.

Now I know. Infiltrator is the way to go on Insanity difficulty. Shout-out to Drakulus for the expert advice. I’m loving the cloaking ability and devastating sniper damage thus far. Insanity and Romance… the only two trophies between me and that shiny Platinum.

The Space Dick… he lives!! Mwahahaha 😈

I always prefer to be the righteous hero in games, but it’s really fun being evil once in a while, I’m not going to lie. Shepard’s Renegade lines are pure dark humour gold in this game. I really need that kind of humour these days, lemme tell ya.

Here’s how Week 6-ish went down. I’m pretending July 28th to August 18th didn’t happen in my life, so this covers August 19th to August 24th 2019. I like to keep proper records of my video game ramblings… what can I say?

N7: Platinum Mass Effect 2 (Week 3, 4, and 5)

Welcome to Part 3 of my Mass Effect 2 platinum trophy quest! You can check out Part 2 here.

Ugh! Technology. Unfortunately, my capture card failed to save a ton of screenshots from the last part of the game, but at the end of Week 4 I had completed Ellen Shepard’s easy playthrough, leaving my evil Space Dick Shepard with the task of earning 2 trophies to score the shiny platinum.

I also enjoyed the hell out of the Shadow Broker DLC that was included with my game! My only complaint about Mass Effect 2 is that Liara isn’t a companion character, but the DLC lets you spend some quality time with her at least. Did I mention I love Liara? Because I do!! Ahem.

N7 Platinum Mass Effect 2 Week 3 and 4 4
I love these characters so much!! 😭

On Week 5, the Insanity Renegade playthrough began… sorta. My ol’ Space Dick Shepard (1st version) didn’t get very far. I wanted to keep him as an Adept, staying true to the wicked asshole I created in Mass Effect 1. Unfortunately, being an Adept on Insanity level Mass Effect 2 is a huge pain in the ass and required more patience than my depressed brain could handle.

Here’s some of the highlights I was able to recover from Week 3, 4, and 5! This period covers July 7th to the 27th 2019.

N7: Platinum Mass Effect 2 (Week 2)

Welcome to Part 2 of my Mass Effect 2 Platinum trophy quest! You can check out Part 1 here.

Yes. I’ve been all over the place lately, so just to clarify: this weekly progress post period is from June 29th to July 6th 2019. I also had a vacation in between there too, meaning I had much more fun in reality for a change! Games are still fun, though.

N7: Platinum Mass Effect 2 (Week 1)

As soon as I Platinumed Mass Effect 1 on June 21st, I ejected the game disc from my PlayStation 3 and inserted my copy of Mass Effect 2. Rolling this trophy quest right along, eh! And, DAMN!! I forgot how freaking badass ME2’s opening is. Wow…

It took me a while to adjust to the combat system changes (especially after having just completed 4 consecutive playthroughs of ME1). For one, the new need for ammo in the form of a cooling clip mechanic was a big change. Cover is also infinitely more important than it was in the first game. Even playing ME2 on Casual difficulty, my Shepard gets shredded if I stay out in the open for too long. Oh and a global power cooldown was another change that was challenging to adjust to.

Anyway, here’s how Week 1 of my latest Platinum quest went down! I’m a little behind on these progress posts but I’m going to try to catch up. Babbling about Mass Effect is what Livid Lightning is all about these days!

Things on the XIIIth: June & July 2019

Welcome to my monthly progress post that happens on the 13th (unless I miss a month… oops), which marks the start of a new fiscal month here on Livid Lightning. Get it? XIII is my favourite number… because I like Final Fantasy XIII a lot? Jeez… tough crowd.

I haven’t been feeling very social media friendly lately, so I haven’t been online for a few weeks. I hope everyone’s rocking whatever they’re working on these days! I’ve been busy battling my brain’s negative thought patterns, trying to platinum the Mass Effect trilogy, and attempting more of the social offline thing.

June and July 2019
Relatable memes make life worth living.

Oh and I went on an amazing trip to the USA and got to meet two of my blogging buddies (Athena and The Shameful Narcissist) in reality. That was the best IRL experience ever!! First time leaving Canada, too, eh. I’ll probably be blogging about my trip in another post, but TL;DR I went to the great State of New Jersey and also got to spend a day wandering around New York City (just… WOW).

Anyway, I suspect my social media presence will never be the same as it once was. That’s life! We move forward, we grow, and we change.
