Hey! Listen. You know that popular Christmas song called the 12 Days of Christmas? Athena over at AmbiGaming came up with a cool holiday themed community collaboration idea to gamify that kinda-as-annoying-as-Navi song (that we all love or hate). Basically, it’s a countdown list each day that ends up with 364 items, times however many bloggers do this, at the end of the event (something like that… my maths is bad). Be warned that my singing voice is terrible, but here we go, eh!
Ho, ho, ho, internet!
Last year, the amazing Kim of Later Levels created this awesome Christmas community collaboration event thingy. I was so totally in, then I deleted my old website earlier this year, erasing my old entries of the interwebz forever. Alas!
Basically, there were 12 holiday themed questions bloggers answered on set days, in a format of their own choosing. Yep. I’m still trying to get back in touch with my joyful side after 2018’s craziness… so I’m hyping myself up for that upcoming cheery Christmas event by re-posting my old answers and providing new answers for this year. I’ve changed a lot, man.
You wake up the following morning, hungover but happy – you have an entire day of gaming ahead of you. You start thinking back over the video games you played during 2017; what was your game of the year?

Wannabe Writer’s Note: This is the re-posting of the Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice review I wrote on my old website. This article was originally posted on December 10, 2017. Enjoy past me’s unedited ramblings! Oh oh oh! And I thought it was worth mentioning that THE Melina Juergens, Senua’s actress, liked my original review tweet on Twitter!! 😱 It really means a lot when famous people take the time to do stuff like that for fans.
It’s rare when a game changes my perspective on life and makes me seriously consider why the hell I’m on this planet in the first place. Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice is an experience unlike anything else I’ve ever lived in a game world. It left me with an inspiring message at a time when I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by my own shadows. We all see this crazy world of ours in a different light. At the end of it all, and in the grand scheme of things, do we really matter anyway? It’s a harsh reality that is both depressing and inspiring at the same time, just like this game. “When the illusion of self is shattered, you simply cease to be.”
⚡ Caution ⚡ – This post contains spoilers for the beginnings of Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice. Some people like going into games knowing as little as possible (like me) so just thought I’d give you fair warning!
Wannabe Writer’s Note: This first impressions article was originally posted on my old website on October 2, 2017. Enjoy my past self’s unedited ramblings!
Tis the season for spooky things so why not try out this creepy looking game everyone’s talking about, eh? Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice has been on my radar for a while now. It’s cheap and I’ve heard great things… I’ll likely be playing Dragon Age Origins until the end of time, but I decided what the Hel, and started this much shorter game anyway.
