Falling Off Buildings & Running From Blues

Caution – This post contains spoilers for the beginnings of Mirror’s Edge. Some people like going into games knowing as little as possible (like me) so just thought I’d give you fair warning!

Mirror's Edge Impressions 1

I was innocently cruising a local game store’s website when suddenly, a cool Collector’s Edition of a game series I’ve vaguely heard of catches my eye. Said Collector’s Edition includes an awesome statue of the main character (my swag addiction is a curse). The game is Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, and it’s coming out June 7th. I look more into the series and apparently the first game, Mirror’s Edge, is suppose to be a masterpiece that I’ve missed out on. A few minutes later, I’ve ordered a copy from eBay. It arrived in the mail yesterday and I dusted off my Xbox 360 to start it today.

A Torch Against the Night 📕Review

I have a huge pipe dream goal of getting my forever in-progress original novel published someday. Unfortunately, I haven’t been much of a reader for most of my life. I’m improving my reading skill in order to level up my novel writing ability, and also trying to write book reviews for the things I read these days. This is one of my book review thingys… enjoy!

Dragon Age Inquisition Review 1

Platform Played On: PC
Developer: BioWare
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Genre: Action RPG
Release Date: November 18, 2014

Wannabe Writer’s Note: This is the re-posting of the Dragon Age Inquisition Review I wrote on my old website. This article was originally posted on April 4, 2018. Enjoy past me’s unedited ramblings!

When I stop and think about it, I’ve been focused on playing the Dragon Age series since June 2017. Wow… Now I can proudly say I’ve beaten all 3 of these glorious games! Each one offers a totally different gameplay experience. Inquisition is big the ol’ open world one with about a million side activities that distracted me from the main plot. When I started this game, I had come right off of beating Dragon Age II (the “too linear” one) for the fourth time so the transition was pretty jarring, to say the least. To be honest, I felt overwhelmed, but once I settled into the controls (and finally left the Hinterlands), I fell in love with this version of Thedas.

A Letter From Inquisitor Ellen

Wannabe Writer’s Note: This is the re-posting of my Inquisitor’s letter to the wise Athena over at AmbiGaming for her awesome Year of the RPG project. It took like the first 3 months of 2018, but I beat Dragon Age Inquisition after 118+ hours of playing it. And yeah, at least 60 of those hours were spent wandering around and side questing… oops. I also bought the Trespasser DLC, the first DLC I ever bought separately from a game (will likely babble about that at some point too). Anyway, the point of this letter is sum up my Inquisitor’s journey through the main game. Enjoy!

MAJOR FREAKING SPOILER WARNING since I will be summing up the entire main game, complete with screenshots. Now I need a moment to get into character – RAWR! DRAGONS, SMASH! Here we go!

Dragon Age Origins (Ultimate Edition) ⚡Review

Dragon Age Origins Review 1

Platform Played On: PC
Developer: BioWare
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Genre: Action RPG
Release Date: November 3, 2009

Wannabe Writer’s Note: This is the re-posting of the Dragon Age Origins Review I wrote on my old website. This article was originally posted on December 29, 2017. Enjoy past me’s unedited ramblings!

O Dragon Age Origins, why have I waited so long to play thee? I picked up the Ultimate Edition of this glorious RPG early this year. An edition that includes all the DLC plus the Awakening expansion for just $7 CDN?! Yass, please!! I got around to actually playing it in July, and then finally finishing it in November. My only previous BioWare experience had been with Dragon Age II, a game I enjoyed a lot. So why did it take me so long to play the original? I guess I just got distracted by the mountain of other games I want to play, and this series sort of fell off my radar. Then the wise Athena over at AmbiGaming appeared, as if sent by the elven Creators themselves. By constantly reminding me just how awesome this game series is, I guess she wore me down. I’m making my BioWare backlog a priority now, so a huge THANK YOU to my good friend Athena!

Path of the Grey Warden 9: Originated

Wannabe Writer’s Note: This is the re-posting of the Dragon Age Origins babblethrough series I did on my old website. This article was originally posted on December 25, 2017. Enjoy past me’s unedited ramblings!

This is it! My 9th and final progress babbling post for the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition. I can’t believe I actually stuck with something I said I was going to do… wow. Anyway, Grey Warden Ellen’s epic journey wrapped up with the Golems of Amgarrak DLC. However, I made a little side objective for myself before calling it a game – see the other 5 Grey Warden beginnings.

You know what? I think this is why the game has the word Origins in its title! There is a total of 6 different ways to start the game, depending on the race/background you choose. Each offers a completely different story, but they all tie together and branch out into the overall world beautifully.

!!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!! DO NOT read anything else unless you want this great game ruined… I’m serious.
