Ho, ho, ho, internet!
Last year, the amazing Kim of Later Levels created this awesome Christmas community collaboration event thingy. I was so totally in, then I deleted my old website earlier this year, erasing my old entries of the interwebz forever. Alas!
Basically, there were 12 holiday themed questions bloggers answered on set days, in a format of their own choosing. Yep. I’m still trying to get back in touch with my joyful side after 2018’s craziness… so I’m hyping myself up for that upcoming cheery Christmas event by re-posting my old answers and providing new answers for this year. I’ve changed a lot, man.
Your help must have worked, because it’s now Christmas morning and presents are under the tree! There’s a fancy box with your name on it; which gaming-related item are you hoping is inside?
I would probably faint if Santa left me a working replica of Lightning Farron’s gunblade under the tree this year. It’s definitely my favourite video game weapon (I even wrote a sales pitch story for it). All I’d need is pink wig and I could totally pretend to be my shero while wielding it! I’d use it responsibly too, and NOT go chase down mindless internet hater trolls with it… honest.
To go off on a bit of a related tangent – I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas day! Due to family drama related reasons I will not go into, I don’t know my extended family very well (and that’s a good thing, I think). I spend Christmas with my parents in their middle of nowhere residence (satellite internet… *shudders*). Since I was a kid, it has always been just the 3 of us and it’s pretty laid-back. I spent the day working on my blog, playing Super Mario Odyssey, and EATING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT! *pats stomach*
My birthday was on Christmas Eve too. And no, I don’t get double the presents like everyone thinks. Santa and the season always steal my thunder so I don’t celebrate it. My parents take me out to eat every year, and that’s all I want/need. After I reached the legal drinking age in my country, getting older every year started sucking anyway 😛 Oh and I have an excuse to eat chocolate brownie birthday cake along with all the other holiday goodies, so there’s that! Far from the worst birthday ever, that’s for sure.
For the first time in years, we had snow on Christmas morning! Unfortunately, the rain took it out soon after, and then a windstorm knocked out power for that night. Luckily, the food was cooked already so it was a nice Christmas supper under candlelight. It made me realize what’s important in life, and extra thankful that the Nintendo Switch runs on a battery. Here’s a few pictures of snowy nowhere, and what Santa actually left me under the tree this year. I wish everyone a superb 2018, and a happy rest of the holiday season.
It’s obvious this was posted after Christmas 2017 on my original blog (I still haven’t touched those games Santa got me). Nothing quite reminds me of my extended family drama like this time of year does. Oh well! You can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends (who can honestly be as important as family).
My friend recently suggested I start celebrating my “half birthday” instead of yielding my thunder to the big Christmas holiday. So in June 2019, I’m gonna buy myself a big ol’ birthday cake and a bottle of spiced rum, eh! Also, this Christmas Eve I’ll be 30 years old…. wow. Where… did… my life go?? Sorry. I’ll save my midlife crisis for another post.
But, yass! I still wanna gunblade more than ever. The technology has to exist… they can totally make one.
