Creative Christmas 1: Santa-ing for Someone Special

Ho, ho, ho, internet!

Last year, the amazing Kim of Later Levels created this awesome Christmas community collaboration event thingy. I was so totally in, then I deleted my old website earlier this year, erasing my old entries of the interwebz forever. Alas!

Basically, there were 12 holiday themed questions bloggers answered on set days, in a format of their own choosing. Yep. I’m still trying to get back in touch with my joyful side after 2018’s craziness… so I’m hyping myself up for that upcoming cheery Christmas event by re-posting my old answers and providing new answers for this year. I’ve changed a lot, man.

Question #1

You need to choose a gift for someone special and go online to check out the video game item catalogue. Who is this person and what present would you select for them?

2017 Answer

I didn’t read anywhere that the someone special had to be real, so I’m choosing my Grey Warden’s dorky knight man, Alistair, from Dragon Age Origins.

Oh, Alistair… the awkward idiot of my dreams!

One of his most hilarious and famous pick up lines in-game is “So tell me, have you ever licked a lamppost in winter?”. Get it? Tee hee! So to commemorate that beautifully awkward one liner, I would totally order him this awesome ugly Christmas sweater fromย redbubble.com:

Yup! I’m pretty sure he’d love it. ๐Ÿ˜€

2018 Answer

I’ll shamefully admit it. The way I interpreted this question made me feel a little sad last year. I won’t get officially cranky about it until Valentine’s Day rolls around yet again (ugh), but I’ve never had anyone romantically special in my life (more details here). And I’m finally almost 100% accepting of that. Maybe I don’t need the ol’ other half. Perhaps I’m whole enough on my own, eh!

Plus, there are SO MANY other forms of love besides the romantic dating kind. I think friend love is more important to me, in all honesty. I have two best friends in my life that I love like family members, and for them I am truly grateful. Not to mention all the cool people I’m honored to consider online friends. They are all someone special to me.

So you know what? Here’s what game related items I’d gift a few of my online blogger buddies with (if I were the richest human in the world with magical powers… that would be so sweet).

Athena of AmbiGamingFor getting me hooked on glorious BioWare games, I would totally get the Goddess of Wisdom her very own Normandy SR-1 from the original Mass Effect game (complete with deployable Mako). She could fly absolutely anywhere in the world/galaxy that she wanted to with that! ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ‘

Santa-ing for Someone Special 3

The Shameful NarcissistFor showing me the true awesomeness of Sephiroth, I’d gift the badass TSN her very own mini summonable Meteor from FFVII (just to use on a smaller scale… to avoid wiping out our solar system all the time). Oh and an entire Latin choir to follow her around that sings One Winged Angel on command. โ˜„๏ธ

Santa-ing for Someone Special 4

Mr. Wapojif of Professional MoronFor convincing me to play the emotional masterpiece Ori and the Blind Forest, I’d gift this moron with his very own pet Ori. So adorable! I’m sure he’s easy to take care of too… just watch out for the Spirit Tree’s light. ๐Ÿฅ”

Santa-ing for Someone Special 6

Kim of Later LevelsFor doing a ton of good for charities like Special Effect, I’d gift Kim a Monkey Island theme park that takes up residence on her very own private island (with her own mansion and everything). ๐ŸŽ‰

Santa-ing for Someone Special 5

Chris of Overthinker YFor always reminding me I seriously need to finish Kingdom Hearts someday, I’d gift Chris with his very own army of 1,000 Heartless minions. I’m mostly positive he wouldn’t use them for evil purposes… if that is indeed Chris, and not Xehanort. ๐Ÿค”

Ian of Adventure RulesFor creating the epic Blogger Blitz community event, I’d gift Ian with his very own tabletop RPG game. He’ll be in charge of creating it, and it will no doubt sell in the millions. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

Santa-ing for Someone Special 9.png

the Well-Red MageFor always respecting differing opinions and giving me the opportunity to become the Livid Lightning Mage, I’d gift the Mage Dude with the advertising power to turn his website into something more popular than IGN. For the good of video game journalism! ๐Ÿง™

Santa-ing for Someone Special 8.png

Nana MarfoFor being an even bigger fan of Final Fantasy XIII than I am, I’d gift this dude with his very own game studio where he could make whatever games he wants to! ๐ŸŽฎ

Santa-ing for Someone Special 10

And so, so many more bloggers that I ran out of creative mind power to think of cool things for… love all of you guys!

I'm a wannabe writer and an avid video gamer with a slight (okay, maybe extreme) Amiibo addiction. I'm from the coastal province of Nova Scotia in Canada, eh. When I'm not gaming, I have a steady job thing I have to go to. It pays for the gaming thing though. :)

  1. WOAH!! I did not expect that. Thanks for the studio!

Having romantics interests suck sometimes(because you know they are not into you(I know from experience)), so I guess being ace makes it easier? IDK.

  2. D’aw, thanks for the shoutout! Your gifts are all very thoughtful – for all the people I know I was going down the list thinking “yep, yep, uh-huh, ooh that’s good.” Maybe Santa Claus is the one who better watch out!

  3. BEST. PRESENT. EVER. ๐Ÿ˜

And this post has made you even more awesome-er than you already were. And if that’s not a real word, they should totally add it to the dictionary in your honour.

  4. I feel this hard LOL. I’ve been single now for like 4 years now and it just gets a little bit depressing? It’s like on one hand, I’m like “I wish I had a romantic interest.” and the other hand is like “Eh. I like doing whatever I want.” but in the end, it’s kind of hard because you don’t know if they’re into you or not so I guess being single is okay??

    Anyways, have an awesome Christmas!

    1. Oh, I know… I feel like I’m missing out on such a great thing, and it gets lonely sometimes, but I’m so independent and can’t imagine what it would be like, haha. Just gonna focus on being grateful for the things I do have in my life, and try not to worry about what I don’t.

Have an awesome Christmas too, dude!

      1. Exactly. It kinda makes me embarrassed when my family asks me if I “had anyone.” but I really can’t focus on what it would feel like since I’m also quite independent and I’ve gotten just used to it, I guess? Feelings are weird. Same. Grateful for videogames and a ton of friends!
